102nd Department Convention Update

The 102nd Department Convention will be held this year at the Renaissance Hotel, in Austin on July 7 – 11, 2021. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic the following safety precaution will be observed. While participating in events, meetings, or activities of the 2021 Department Convention, “social distancing” must be practiced, and face coverings worn at all times to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19. The Renaissance Hotel has a mandatory face mask rules that states – you must wear a face mask/covering in all public spaces. 

In light of the ongoing spread of COVID-19, we will be conducting daily temperature checks prior to entering any meeting, event and prior to registration. 

All attendees will be required to answer a COVID screening questionnaire prior to be issued convention badges. If you can answer “Yes” to any the following questions you will not be allowed to participate in the 2021 Department Convention.

  1. Are you currently or have you within the past fourteen (14) days experienced any symptoms associated with COVID-19, which include fever, cough, shortness of breath, among other symptoms?
  1. Have you traveled at any point in the past fourteen (14) days either international or to a community in the U.S. that has experienced or is experiencing sustained community spread of COVID-19?
  1. Have you been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are not yet cleared as non-contagious by state or local public health authorities if the health care team responsible for their treatment? 

Individuals who have received the COVID 19 vaccination are asked to bring their shot record and simply show at the time of registering so we can get a count on how many of our attendees are vaccinated, we will need to provide that information to the City of Austin as part of our COVID 19 event reporting.

If you reserve a room at the hotel and have either been exposed or contracted COVID 19 the hotel will waive the room cancellation fee. 

No one will be admitted to any convention meeting, event, or convention session without a registration badge. 

Because COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is spread mainly from person-to-person contact, the department cannot guarantee that its participants, volunteers, partners, staff, and others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19 and your participation is at your own risk.
